How to Interrupt Enemies in Outriders

If you need to defend yourself in Outriders, there's one simple move you need to learn.

The world of Outriders is very much a dog-eat-dog one. You're always going to have to stay on guard if you want to survive and see the endgame. Luckily, there are plenty of ways for you to keep yourself safe so you can explore the rest of the game beyond the prologue. You just need to be smart about how you employ them.

You can't just punch or shoot your way to victory in Outriders, but we've got the next best thing: interrupting your enemies. Here's how to go about it.

When you're making your way across the world in-game, you may find yourself facing off against certain enemies that need to charge abilities. You can monitor if an enemy is charging an ability by looking for a progress bar near their health bar. There will be a name for the ability they're actively charging there. That's how your enemy "tells on" themselves and gives you a bit of an opening.

Watch for this indication, because that's going to give you a way to fight back. When you see this type of charging happening, you need to come at the enemy with an attack or ability that features an "Interrupt" keyword. You may need to cycle through your arsenal for this, but that isn't too difficult to do. Open up your Skills menu and have a quick gander at the keywords on the abilities you have. Look under the "Type" section and you should see just what you're looking for.

To break things down further, choose a melee attack to interrupt enemy abilities regardless of the class you've chosen to play as. Melee attacks are easy to pull off and require little planning. Just bash that enemy's head in and see if they go on trying to pull off their ability. Chances are that they don't. Then you'll be laughing all the way to victory.

For other attacks, as long as the ability you want to use has the actual Interrupt keyword, you should be good to go. Just make sure that you have that on and pull off your own attack first. Of course, speed is of the essence here. If you try to use an ability with an Interrupt effect that comes into play after damage has already been dealt, for instance, you may end up absorbing what your enemy has in store for you first instead, and that negates the entire point of interruption.

This might take a little getting used to, but it's well worth it if you don't want to constantly die by your enemies' hands. If you want to stay alive long enough to see that World Tier rise and earn more loot, think about how to keep others from pulling off hits on you and chances are you'll improve your overall play style in general. We're rooting for you!
